Rapid River, MI to Grand Forks, Minnesota

Today's Ride: Rapid River, MI to East Grand Forks, Minnesota
Miles Traveled: 577

Leaving camp on the Big Bay de Noc in Rapid River, Michigan bound for Minnesota. Shortly thereafter, the wet stuff joined Murphy and I. Not exactly the greatest day of motorcycling I've ever had but the countryside is nice with lots of rolling farmland.

While the rain was intermittent, it was just enough to make putting on and taking off rain gear a bit annoying by days end. But of course, it wasn't as annoying as riding wet all day.

Murphy didn't say a word all day which was out of character for him. That does remind me however.........I did hear him out back this morning singing or something while I packed. You know..........I'm betting that little sucker was praying and dancing to the rain-gods while I packed up camp! This game isn't over yet. I think you've heard those words before.

On a more positive note, I took the time to visit Aerostitch (Rider Warehouse) as I rolled through Duluth, Minnesota. I wanted to take a closer look at their world class line of one-piece riding suits. They're quite expensive and I've been toying with the idea of having one for several months now but couldn't justify the expense. I was thinking an actual look/feel/touch session with one would most definitely cause me to conclude that they were indeed over-priced. Right? Seemed logical at the time.

WOW!! Those things are built like a tank!
Thanks to Matt, Jim and Dennis at Aerostitch for all the help in trying one one, sitting on my bike to adjust for proper fit, etc. Matt, you were fabulous with lots of answers to my many questions. I must have one! I tried everything I could think of to have one manufactured to my specifications while I got a room and waited. With a seven week backlog, it just wasn't going to happen. Even tried to have one sewn and shipped to Fairbanks to arrive by the time I did but still .............. no game. Doesn't seem to be any way around the seven week wait time. For anyone interested in some excellent riding gear, the RoadCrafter one-piece seems to be the ticket. Thanks guys for the tour of Aerostitch!

Since it had pretty much rained all day, I decided to opt for a room tonight in East Grand Forks, Minnesota just across the river from North Dakota. Goodnight for now.
